Trisha Lurie's weblog

video blog for the day AD Pollution is causing beach ADD or at least giving me anxiety… it should be out lawed!

Today I was at the beach trying to relax and enjoy the sun but the visual gift of blue sky, sail boats and diamond glittered sea was rudely interrupted by ads. To be honest I am sick and tired of all the advertisement pollution in our world!  You can’t get away from them, it’s in your face, in your ears, subliminally in your head…. It has gotten out of control! I understand that people need to buy things and the economy needs us to  buy a bunch of crap we don’t need and even sometimes down right bad for us! But this advertisement overload is causing attention deficit disorder if you ask me… keeping us from being grounded, finding connection with our planet. Then to top it off, they are flying planes, using fuel, to drag giant plastic banners across the blue sky. A double negative. We are faced with these ads all day, all week, everywhere man has consumed… at least give us a break at the beach!

This is my message ….

Please stop the greed, spread peace and allow people to gather in nature without the commercials! Thanks!

I agree absolutely to your point of view. commercialism has gone too far. we could live in better harmony with the world, if we were not seduced by things we don’t need. To me advertisement is like mind pollution. The world needs no more pollution – the world needs more unity…

  2. Trisha,

I had no idea you had to put up with that out there. I get ticked if there’s a billboard on the side of the road. Honestly, I think advertising should be banned entirely. It is necessary for people to find services, yes, and for that reason we should compile a central directory of services – we’ll call it a ‘phone book’ – that people know they can go to if they need something. Ads in magazines aren’t even that bad. But honestly, what I just saw in your video is absurd. That variety of intrusion into our space is really pushing it. Circling around in aircraft? Really? That kind of stuff makes me swear off ever dealing with a company. People need a break from the pressure.
