“ORPHANS OF THE WORLD” video and lyrics

“Orphans of the World”

One day her mother sat her down and said
‘Girls it’s time to grow up-
I’m gonna teach you how to make a living,
I’m gonna show you how to flip a buck’.

She traded her ponies in
for those sexy shoes.
She’s a slave onto the city of dreams,
of dreams that she did not chose.

~There’s a million children standing all alone
In a world we claim as our own
And everybody knows it takes more than prayer
to save the children everywhere, everywhere~

Kicking stones down a desolate highway
goes a boy with bare feet.
oh, running away from the dangers
that lurk with him in the street.

Carrying his heavy school books
to where the school used to be.
That boy hasn’t had a god damn thing to eat
but oh he’s gonna learn how to read.

~There’s a million children standing all alone
Orphaned by a world we claim, we claim our own
And everybody knows it takes a whole lot more than prayer
to save the children, save the children everywhere, everywhere
What are you gonna do?
It’s up to me and you~

She keeps her dreams locked away safely
in fear of being stoned.
She secretly wants to be a doctor
but, there’s some things a girl should not know.

And she’s crying out for her freedom
but no one seems to hear.
She’s waving her flag, oh from the mountain tops
to see if some one will care.

~There’s a million children standing all alone
Orphaned by a world we claim, we claim our own
And everybody knows it takes a whole lot more than prayer
to save the children, save the children, save the children everywhere, everywhere.
What are you gonna do, what are you gonna do?
Oh It’s up to me and you, It’s up to me and you,
It’s up to me and you, It’s up to me and you,
what are we going to do?~
